The Meet Cute

A Modern Day Cinderella Story

It started like any other Tinder match—witty banter ("What's new and exciting?" ... "What, or who ;)"), playful first date ideas, and an eager anticipation for what was to come. When their first date finally arrived, they found themselves on a double date at Hexagon Board Game Cafe on Whyte Ave (just a block away from their current apartment!). Greg stood outside the café, waiting patiently as Chelsea and her friend arrived. The moment she saw him, Chelsea was captivated—his smile and dimples were irresistible.  After the initial intimidation of a double-Tinder-date wore off, Chelsea's bright eyes and warm company put Greg at ease.

Hours flew by as they connected over their shared biology degrees, nerded out over frog dissections, and dove into Munchkin and Mastermind. Their competitive streaks came out, but so did their playful side, with each of them trying to outwit the other. By the time the night wound down, the other date had fizzled out and it was just the two of them. The waitress came over and Chelsea asked for separate checks. Unbeknownst to her, this small gesture had a big impact—Greg was completely hooked (#feminism #equality amiright ;)).

With a 15-minute walk ahead of Chelsea, Greg kindly offered her a ride home. *Cue stranger danger!?..* Despite the awkwardness of a first date, there was a spark between them. While the evening didn’t end with a kiss, their shy smiles and lingering glances spoke volumes. It was clear to both of them—this was the beginning of something special.
